You've heard "consistency is key", but you haven't heard this...
Coming to you from the Mountains of Western North Carolina, where we exchanged our vows, rings, and hearts this past Saturday in front of our grandparents, parents, and siblings. This is a blurry phone shot from my mother in-law as we danced our first dance whilst my sister, father, and brother performed their rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky".
Hey Fam,
Welcome to another edition of The Conscious Creator! Life is full of exciting milestones, and we’re thrilled to share a very special one with you.
Last Saturday, Cameron and I tied the knot in a magical ceremony surrounded by our immediate families. It was a weekend-long retreat filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt moments. Exchanging our vows before those who have been with us since the beginning made everything even more meaningful.
Now, less than a week into married life, I can honestly say it feels different. There’s a profound sense of unity knowing that we are now our own family, and that our individual families have merged into one.
Thank you all for your unwavering support on our journey. Your encouragement fuels our mission to share our message and continue making strides towards creating a better future for ourselves and the generations to come.
That said, let’s dive into the second edition of this month’s mantra and we’ll tie it all together.
Compounding with Consistency
Quick refresher: Compounding means setting a new baseline over time, so each new phase of growth starts from a higher point. Consistency, on the other hand, is about establishing reliable patterns that support our goals.
When combined, creating reliable patterns steadily elevates our baseline, leading to exponential growth.
And remember, we’re talking about intentional consistency, not ignorant consistency.
Intentional consistency involves iteration. It’s about pinpointing the actions and behaviors that drive the results we want, being consistent in those actions, learning, and continuously improving the process.
In true Conscious Creator fashion, this second edition is all about actionable insights. To illustrate this, we’ll dive into three relatable case studies showing the compound yield of consistency, each offering a key takeaway.
#1 Consistency in Character Yields High-Trust Relationships
When Cameron and I first met, I was immediately taken with her, but she didn't feel the same. Her past experiences with men had created a deep distrust in the masculine. I was intentional but not pushy; all I knew was to be myself. Over time, through our shared experiences, she recognized that my essence remained consistent. This reliability allowed her to gradually open up to my love, feeling safe and secure to express her love in return.
In 2022, the CDC estimated that the divorce rate was 42% in the U.S., measured by the number of marriages and divorces occurring in a single year. This means that nearly half of the people who made a commitment to be consistent with each other until death do them part ultimately allowed themselves to separate.
Consistency is key to any long-lasting relationship. Despite the inevitable changes and seasons life brings, being consistently there for our partners, co-evolving instead of branching off in different directions, is essential.
Consistency in character, love (often referred to as unconditional love), and communication are foundational to building security and safety in any relationship. Trust, which is built through consistent character, is the cornerstone of any meaningful connection, whether it’s with a partner, friend, co-founder, or colleague.
📸 Takeaway: By being authentic and maintaining consistent behavior, we create a safe space where others can trust and open up to us, strengthening any bond over time.
#2 Consistency in Structure Yields High-Level Execution
At Groove with Gaia, we've designed consistent operational structures that have significantly improved our execution. Adhering to these structures was challenging, especially while traveling and wedding planning, but maintaining a consistent baseline has proven invaluable.
As a married couple and co-founders of a company, we apply the following structure to both our business and domestic matters.
Goal-Setting Meeting: Before the end of each month, we have a Goal-Setting Meeting to discuss high-level goals for the upcoming month. This meeting anchors our objectives and determines the most important tasks we need to achieve.
Weekly Refinement Meeting: Every Monday, we hold a Refinement Meeting. This meeting can take place indoors or during a walk in nature. We review our monthly goals and identify the highest-impact items for the week. As a lean, two-person team with occasional contractors, it’s crucial to focus on actions that drive us towards our goals.
Our kanban boards are divided into four categories:
- Backlog: Tasks we will eventually need to complete.
- To Do: Tasks selected for completion this week.
- In Progress: Tasks currently being worked on.
- Completed: Finished tasks.
During our Refinement Meeting, we move tasks from the backlog to the to-do list and create our plan for the week, effectively dividing and conquering.
Stand-Up Meetings: Twice a week, usually on Tuesday and Thursday, we have short stand-up meetings. These can be quick check-ins indoors or during a stroll in nature. We cover three points:
- What you've done so far
- What you're going to do next
- What are your roadblocks
These meetings help us address blockers, support each other, and adjust roles to better play to our strengths.
Content Meetings and Filming Sessions: In addition to the above, we have Content Meetings to discuss ideas and filming sessions to produce reviewed content.
By following these reliable patterns, we eliminate chaos and create peace of mind. We know what to focus on and can make significant progress as a two-person company.
So far this year, we've built and released two products (Yin Yang Livin and Dharmic Design), undergone a complete rebrand (to be shared next month), redesigned and developed our website, expanded the Orca Climate Fund portfolio, traveled for three months to Costa Rica, Hong Kong, and Bali, and planned our wedding.
...and the year isn’t even halfway over.
📸 Takeaway: Consistent operational structures lead to high-level execution. By establishing clear goals, regularly refining priorities, and maintaining open communication, you can achieve significant milestones efficiently.
#3 Consistency in Mission Yields Autonomy, Income, and Flexibility
The final example is about the power of consistency in mission. By mission, I mean having a clear understanding of the problem you solve for people.
At its core, the economy is about problem-solving; it is an exchange of money, goods, and services to meet people’s needs. We all address various needs, some more pressing than others, relative to the individual. For instance, an innovative hair replacement product is invaluable to someone experiencing hair loss but irrelevant to someone with a full head of hair.
Simply said, you earn money by addressing needs.
Many entrepreneurs pivot too frequently, jumping from one problem to another out of impatience or boredom, preventing them from building significant value.
Through experience, I’ve learned that consistency in mission is where the biggest gains are. Building depth in a specific field generates significant value. Consistent efforts over time enable you to address people’s needs more effectively. To demystify “scale” in business, it means repeatedly applying the same process to solve the same problem, continually improving the process to serve more people with less effort.
Dharmic Design is a prime example. For 12 years, I’ve helped companies and entrepreneurs refine their strategies and launch products. My strength lies in transforming disparate ideas into cohesive execution. By honing skills in design, engineering, and product management, I’ve continually improved my ability to help clients advance. Evolving from an employee to a freelancer to a founder offering a productized service, and now a scalable solution, I’m confident in solving problems for entrepreneurs due to consistent and repeated efforts over time.
As my process improves, so does efficiency. Previously, I conducted 2-3 ideation workshops per year. Now, I’ve conducted 4 ideation workshops in the past month alone, thanks to an optimized process. Serving more people accelerates learning and further refinement of our product.
📸 Takeaway: This success is due to consistency in mission—continuously addressing the same or similar needs in increasingly effective ways. This approach has allowed me to design a life that offers spaciousness, meaning, and income simultaneously.
And here’s some exciting news: we’ve opened up more space in our Dharmic Design program! We’re onboarding 10 new Founders to work hands on with myself and Cameron at the current price point before it rises again. You can find more information here (we’ve been using this deck while finalizing our new site; we sold the first 10 seats with this deck made in Canva—you can do the same!).
Looking Forward
If you’ve made it this far, congratulations. This was a long read, packed with valuable insights, and I commend you for soaking it all up.
This edition wraps up this month’s mantra: Compound with Consistency. Hopefully, you now understand the power of creating patterns in your life to reduce chaos and increase cohesion. Consistency brings peace, abundance, and security.
One crucial aspect to remember is the importance of intentional consistency. This means iterating over time, learning, and integrating those learnings while maintaining a consistent baseline, rhythm, and intention.
Thank you so much for your support. I can’t wait to share next month’s newsletter, especially with our brand-new system designed to enhance both the feel and appearance of these messages.
Your feedback means a lot to us, so if you have anything to share, please drop it here. It takes less than a minute and allows us to continue making this better for you.
Blessings,
